"In the far north of Cameroon, along the border of Nigeria, live several thousands of uncounted men and women. Not possessing papers, they " do not exist ".
They have no rights, nor freedom, or safety in their own country.
To register a birth at the town hall, it costs 15 €. Each woman usually has between 7 to 10 children. Nobody has the financial means to obtain papers for his family.
Joshua is the only one of his family who's lucky enough to have papers.
Everybody in his family saved money for two years to help him buy his "identity" at the city hall.
He can thus cross the Nigerian border and buy the goods that are much cheaper there.
He then sells his articles in Maroua's market.
His benefits have enabled him to marry three women and have 14 children.
Even if it is allowed to cross the border, he must nevertheless pay the customs officers a bribe equivalent to 30% of its profits."
