"The people of Bangladesh have long been living with natural calamities that ravage lives and properties and cause immense sufferings to them. Global warming and resultant climate change has made the situation worse, especially for Bangladesh as the vast coastal areas stand highly vulnerable to floods and other natural disasters due to steady rise of sea level. Moreover, rainwater coming from the upstream on the other side of Bangladesh-India boarder inundates the low lying lands in the downstream of Bangladesh during the time of monsoon. Which forces hundreds of thousands of people, almost every year, to leave their inundated homes and take refuge in flood shelters. Evacuation of people to safe homes to save lives and belongings poses vulnerability to the affected people. Women, children and elderly people are the worst sufferers of any natural disaster like flood."
