"This was taken in Cantagallo, which is a Shipibos-Conibos settlement in the city of Lima. The majority of the people who lived there were dedicated to making artisanal crafts. I remember the year quite a bit, because a week after the photo was taken a fire occurred that consumed 85% of the homes in Cantagallo. The community was never the same again; a large part of the families were relocated and others returned to settle on the ashes of the houses left by the fire. The photo shows their daily chores along with their artistic expressions."
