"This work presents a perspective in which an inexplicable presence lurks within an ordinary landscape.\r\n\r\nI have often found my gaze strongly drawn to isolated trees or those with distorted shapes. Underlying this sensation is the Ainu concept of “Kamui”—the belief that nature and objects are imbued with a spirit.\r\n\r\nBy using monochrome to suppress the visual information of the landscape and introducing gold—a foreign element—in specific areas, I create a state on the canvas where things that should normally be invisible seem to emerge.\r\n\r\nGold appears as a trace suggesting that something might have been there.\r\n\r\nThis work creates a slight shift in the very way the landscape is perceived, thereby providing an opportunity to become aware of the presence lurking within everyday life."
