"Self Portrait. I'm the one in the bathing suit. From 1970 to 1972, my art professor at Ithaca College was Robert Richenberg. He was a first generation abstract expressionist painter who studied and exhibited with Hans Hoffman. He used to talk about Hoffman's Push Pull theory of color and the idea of creating a tension on the picture plane. In this photo, I have red working again blue. To compound the Push Pull theory, I also have close vs far. Throw in man vs bear and flesh vs plastic and funny vs serious, we have the raw material for another great Robert Richenberg lecture."
