"It has existed since 1884 when the horse tram started in Osijek, the first in Croatia. Osijek boasts that it had a tram before many European and world cities. For example, it had one before San Francisco, to which the tram is one of its trademarks today. In 1926, the tram line was electrified, which was by then one-lane and passed through the middle of the Fortress. The route was leveled and moved outside Tvrda, and two-lane traffic was introduced with turns at both ends of the line (Zeleno polje - Podrgrade)."
