I am a (beginner) landscape and travel photographer based in Mannheim, Germany (that is close to the famous city of Heidelberg). I was born in 1974 in St Petersburg and obtained my degree in mathematics at St. Petersburg State University. I have two children and I make my living working in IT. I started to do some photography by the end of 2018. I had a camera before, of course. But before I was just playing around, photographing my family, and capturing my travel experiences. I am a passionate traveller and try together with my wife to spend all my vacations on beautiful destinations. In 2019 I first started learning photography basics, looking into some how-to etc. Most importantly, I started using a tripod when photographing my landscapes :- ) I think, I am still a beginner, struggling with many mistakes and perhaps making little progress. Photographs that appear ‘awesome’ on location turned out to be … not that awesome in post. Btw. … I first started learning and post-processing later in 2020. I have a huge backlog of unprocessed files, still working on some of my images from 2019. My editing process, however, is rather time-consuming. Much of the modern fine art landscape post-processing is about creating a mood and evoking an emotional response from the viewer. I am experimenting with different techniques, trying to enhance landscape’s natural beauty most, but not to make the image look artificial or over-edited.
