Stephan Romer, one of the world's most sought after commercial photographers, now brings us a celebration of landscape - in particular, the New Zealand wilderness - as we've rarely seen before.
Born and educated in Germany, Romer's early years were in industrial design followed by an internship in photography with Germany's most renown commercial photographers: Brigitte Richter and Thomas Caspari. In the 1990s Romer found his niche in transport and landscape photography, working with the most sought-after brands of automobile. He also discovered New Zealand, favouring its topography for his photographic backgrounds but also deciding to make it his home.
With clients such as Porsche, Mercedes Benz and Jaguar, Romer is renowned for combining extraordinary technical skills with an eye for what lies beyond, using the light and landscape to merge with the fine lines of an automobile.
With over twelve years now based in Queenstown, New Zealand, Romer has developed a love and affinity for the wild places close to home. He has segued into large format photography, focused solely on capturing the poetry of that landscape, with a powerful intimacy and understanding of the New Zealand wilderness.
His large format Landscape works are exhibited in his private Galleries based in Queenstown and Dusseldorf, Germany.
