If your main source of income is photography, you are considered a professional photographer. Those who seek or make a livelihood by practice of photography are professional photographers.
If your main source of income is not photography, you are considered an amateur photographer. Those (beginners and regulars) who randomly make photographs or / and show an active interest in photography, through not necessarily to earn an income, are amateurs.
If you have entered your work in two or more categories and for example if you have won a silver and a bronze. The total points will only be taken from the highest winning entry. In this case the photographer will be get 10 points from the silver entry and not get 15 points (10 + 5) for the silver and bronze entry.
The photographer with the maximum number of points for his / her top 10 entries across all sub-categories will win the Title. The photographer will need a minimum of 22 points to be considered for the 'Photographer of the Year' Title.
The photographer of a Country with the maximum number of points for his / her top 10 entries across all sub-categories will win the Title. The photographer will need a minimum of 22 points to be considered for the 'Photographer of the Year: (Country)' Title. This is only valid for the professional photographers.
While there is no upper limit to the number of entries a photographer can submit, the more number of entries will only work towards better chances of winning the award. The minimum number of entries will have to be 2. This is applicable for the Professional, Amateur & Student expertise categories.
For example:
If Photographer A sends 2 entries and wins 1 Gold + 1 Finalist respectively, he would have 20 + 2 = 22 points.
If Photographer B sends 10 entries but wins 1 Silver + 2 Bronze + 2 Finalist respectively, he would have 10 + (5x2) + (2x2) = 24 points.
And Photographer C also sends 12 entries but wins 2 Bronze + 10 Finalists, only the top 10 entries will be considered – that is, 2 Bronze + 8 Finalists. Now the photographer will have (5x2) + (8x2) = 26 points.
In such a scenario,
Photographer C will win the 'Photographer of the Year' Gold title.
Photographer B will win the 'Photographer of the Year' Silver title.
Photographer A will win the 'Photographer of the Year' Bronze title.
In case there is a tie where photographers have the same points, their quality of metals (number of Golds, Silvers & Bronzes) will be taken into account to determine the winner.
(For example, 'PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR – ARCHITECTURE')
The photographer with the maximum number of points for his / her top 10 entries in the respective category will win the Title. The photographer will need a minimum of 12 points to be considered for the 'Photographer of the Year - Category' Title.
Book Publishers cannot submit work directly. Photographers submitting work under the Book category will have to mention the name of the Book Publisher (applicable only to Professional Photographers). The points awarded to photographer(s) for the work they submit is carried over to the respective Book Publisher. The Book Publisher with the highest aggregate will win the Title. There are no separate entry fees for this award.
You can enter from a minimum of 2 images to a maximum of 10 images under a single series. Every series will be judged as a whole, as a single body of work.
The name of the winner & the award title will be laser engraved on the trophy.
The One Eyeland Camera trophies are made of Aluminum, the dimensions of which are: 5"(L) x 2"(B) x3"(H). Each individual trophy weighs approximately 800 grams.
All Metal Trophies & Certificates will be shipped via post.
Definitely. You can submit your photographs under any number of relevant categories. For example if you send the work in two categories and you win a bronze and silver. The points will be calculated for silver (the higher winning entry). Doing so will only work towards bettering your chances of winning. The same piece of work submitted in different categories does not ensure that you will get the same results in all the categories entered.
Sure. You can submit a photograph that was submitted / awarded in any other contest in the past.
Photographers who have a published repertoire of their work can submit the book for awards. Submissions will have to be as a series of 10 images. Submissions will have to be online and a multi page PDF of the entire book has to be sent via ftp.
